I feel like Andy Rooney or Peter Griffin every time I write one of these intros. I sometimes want so bad to just start with "You know what really grinds my gears?" then also bitch about metal Christmas sweaters. Alas, Ol Man Dan's feeling alright this week.

It isn't surprising when two of the key players of Borknagar break off to and make music together for it to sound a lot like Borknagar, is it? Vintersorg and Oystein Brun have once again created a fantastic epic progressive metal experience with Earthems. It sounds like the sequel to Borknagar's Urd and this is not a bad thing.

If you ever are in a situation where you need to tell someone about the non-In Flames Swedish Death Metal scene, show them this album. These guys manage to retain melody and memorable song passages, but they are fucking brutal. It just sounds so very Swedish.

Musical diversity and black metal don't often go together. Glorior Belli bring a blackened take to stoner metal, rock n roll, and even a little doom. The only band I've heard diverge this much from the blackened norm has been Nachtmystium. I dig.

Oh hey, a classic death metal throw back band. Fans of Autopsy and the likes will either dig this or complain about how the band attempts (and succeeds) to make music that sounds just like their influences.

Welcome to part three of Death metal week on The Weekly Injection. Up next we have some of the OG technical death metal. They have yet to present any hints that they may incorporate fusion back into their sound. Maybe on their next record.

Heavy as balls groovy death metal from the Bay. Rob described it as " …something grimey and sludy to get me in a good mood." I can't say I disagree.
