Photos & Review: BLOODYWOOD Brought The Party To Portland

A killer time was had by all.

Bloodywood-01865

Bloodywood traveled for 24 hours from New Delhi, India to bring their extra spicy heat of folk-nü-metal to the States. A sound so eclectic & diversely heavy, there is no other band out there that sounds like these amazingly, talented gentlemen. You can hear classical Indian instruments such as the Dhol Drum, Ektara, Tumbi & Indian flute in the beautifully written pieces.

Bloodywood was created by Karan Katiyar (guitars, flute, production, composition) and Jayant Bhadula (vocals, growls) in 2016; rapper Raoul Kerr joined soon after. They sing in a mixture of Hindi, Punjabi, and English, and will have you also singing in their language no matter what. Being at their show is a unique experience unlike any other heavy metal show. The audience is almost as much part of the entertainment as the band is. Towards the end of their set, a few of the members perform from inside the audience, so do not miss out on that. Bloodywood's touring members include: Sarthak Pahwa (dhol), Roshan Roy (bass), Vishesh Singh (drums).

Bloodywood's music is inspiring, heart- warming and uplifting. Full of energy and compassion, their debut record Rakshak was independently released on February 18th, 2022. With the empathetic lyrics about mental health in "Jee Veerey” which means, "Live, Brave One,” they used their music video to offer 60 fans, free private therapy sessions.

The deep love for your dog is conveyed in their video "Yaad" (Hindi for "remember" or "in memory"). Warning, this video will make you bawl your eyes out! Bloodywood also used this video to support many Animal Rescue Organizations in India.
